Dogs, dogs, and dogs

Image
Well here we are at two weeks with Jackson and what great progress he is making.  I feel that all I've been doing is keeping the cat from attacking Jackson and making sure Jackson goes out on a regular schedule plus other house chores.  All is well with Colby and Jackson.  Jackson is bonding well, loves going for rides, he takes all the dog and cat toys out of the basket and puts them either in the cats beds which he lays in or on the chair you see him sitting it.  I call him the toy hoarder.  He does it every day, several times a day.   He sleeps in his new crate at night and Colby sleeps in his crate as well.  It is like having a two car garage in our bedroom...now if I could figure out a way to add automatic garage doors...too funny.  These crates are a little more expensive but I like them as they have wheels on the one end to move them around and with a bulging disc...that helps a lot.  Of course the cat sleeps on the top of the crate...

Here they are being forced to be next to one another.  only been less than a week but I see baby steps every day. Colby looks like a big brut next to tiny Jackson.  Too darn cute !!!  Have a great day....

Welcome Jackson Today I traveled to Lewisburg , PA, about 2 hours from our home, to see the two little shih tzu's that were available for adoption.  Prior to leaving the house my husband told me, and I quote, "do not come home with both".  When I saw the two together you could see they were already bonding so it was difficult not to take both.  For once I listened to my husband.  So Bud, if you are reading my blog mark your calendar that today, May 14, 2010 I listened to your words of wisdom.  It may never happen again!!  LOL ....  Jackson's story....He is 2 years old and weighs about 12 pounds; he came from a back yard breeder.  For 2 years he spent his days in a cage, never being held, never having a clean bed, probably never a bath.  Bless Susan for taking him and 4 others from this person.  Susan gave him a much needed haircut and bath and this week he was neutered.  So although Jackson is 2 yrs old it is like having a puppy...

New addition update....

...adding to the existing 4 legged creatures could be closer than I realize.  No, it's not Mushi or Christmas Cookie or even Trevor.  They are two little dogs that were rescued from a back yard breeder.  Now I'm only taking one because my husband would blow a gasket if I came home with both of them.  Although it could be tempting.  Here is a picture their foster mom sent me.  Right now their names are Meatball and Taco but as I  will be changing his name.  I'm leaning towards Trevor or Tanner but that too could change. So on Friday Colby and I will be taking a road trip, 2 hours west of our Pennsylvania home, to meet these little fur kids and see, hopefully, which one he gets along with.  You never know he may not like either of them.  So remember if you thinking of adding a pet to your home and not sure if you want the puppy route, look into adopting.  There are so many pets out there that need furever homes and got to where ...

As the sun is setting, the storm clouds are moving in and the wind is at it's peak, I looked out the front window and ran for the camera.  There is what I saw....  What a bold finish!!!

Flowers..

Image
Just about nothing or maybe....this is a picture of my lilac bush.  Every spring I look forward to the fragrance from the lilac bush.  Not this year....only one clump of tiny flowers. Usually it is loaded with flowers and when its breezy I can smell them in the house. What happened!  I know we had a bad winter but what I really think is that in fall I cut it back way too much.  Hope you are having a great day and to all you mother's  Happy Mother's Day!

Art Work Friday...

Candle making is a fun hobby although I am hoping to sell them.  Here is how I make candles.  This particular day I made Citronella candles for the patio. Along with the Citronella scent I also added some Mountain Lodge which is a combination of cedar and evergreen scents.  Smells very outdoorsy . Next I get the containers ready that I am going to use.  Since they will be used outdoors I purchased some cute ceramic containers.  I used a hot glue gun to secure the wick to the bottom of the container and to keep the wick somewhat straight I use a metal wick holder. Next I get the wax ready.  There is a variety of wax you can use but I have chosen to go with soy wax.  It is a cleaner burning wax.   Now you need to weigh the wax out based on the size of the container you use will determine how much wax.  I'm still learning this part so I usually end up making extra votive candles.  To make these candles, the containers are 5 ounces an...

Just a few pictures of the hardscape company my daughter works for.  They had an open house this weekend and I went to take some pictures for them. This is a brick oven and a local pizza shop came up and actually made pizza it in.  My daughter said it was really, really good.

Fur kid adoption update...

Image
One word explains it.. . frustrated !   I understand that the pet rescue organizations are volunteer operated.  But what frustrates me is that with so many animals looking for new, secure homes and people like me looking to bring in another fur kid one would think they would move a little faster.  On Monday it will be three weeks since I completed the application for Mushi .  I sent an email last week asking if I was even being considered.  Nothing, no response at all.  Now come on people!  My one sister in law has told me that in her next life she wants to come back as one of my pets because as she tells it "do they know they won the lottery"!  So my frustration continues but I am not waiting around.  I have completed yet another adoption application for a little guy named Trevor.  Here is Trevor's picture.. This little guy is 2 years old and only weighs 8 pounds.  I hope he will put on a few extra pounds.  Anyway, he is bei...
